Elesa watched the two men play as she drunk from her glass.

Mack drew the cards that Darkmane set down and slid them next to his deck, then dealt him three more in their place. Mack looked down at his own cards: A 7 of Hearts, a 7 of Spades, a Jack of Diamonds, a 2 of Clubs, and a 3 of Hearts.
Thinking things over and hoping Lady Luck was on his side that day, Mack decided to hold onto the Jack and set down his 2 of Clubs and 3 of Hearts. He added the two cards to his "discard" pile, then picked up two more. Two pair. His 7s met a pair of Jacks; Diamonds and Hearts. Feeling confident, Mack gave his hand one final glance, his poker face set to a neutral stare. "Alright", he said, "Let's see them".

Darkmane added the cards Mack had dealt him to his hand, and saw he'd been given a six of diamonds, a four of clubs and a nine of hearts. Along with the pair of sixes already in his hand, this gave him three of a kind.
He put on a neutral expression for his poker face, and when Mack prompted him, he laid his hand out in clear view.
"Three sixes." He stated simply. "You?"
Meanwhile, the ginger cat demi-human finished talking to the people at the second table, and carrying a rather bulging leather bag, headed straight through a door next to the bar and into the rooms beyond.

Oops. "...nice. Seems this Gambler forgot to bring his rabbit's foot, 'cause he's in defeat". Mack revealed his Two Pair hand -- one ranking just under Three of a Kind ones. "That's luck", he commented... but then his eye strolled to the side and caught an interesting sight.
There was another demihuman, another feline, this with a suit, and he was carrying a sack of something. Hmm, kind of a hot guy, thought Mack, then again, so's that girl mage, she's okay and just alright -- oh, what now?! Come ON, Mack, focus! "Heeeeeeey", said Mack in a near-monotone voice, "Is it just me, or is that just plain strange? I didn't notice him at the bar, no sirree. How funky, you all".

"What's so strange about him?" Darkmane replied. He'd noticed the cat demi-human, and he knew who he was and what he had been doing.
From one of the tables the ginger feline had been to, a burly, brown haired human male got up and walked to the bar and had a brief word with the bartender. After a few brief words, the male got a bit angry and worried.
"What do you mean you didn't need change?" He asked.
"I had, and still have enough change to serve everyone." The bartender replied. "Why do you ask?"
The man cursed. He turned towards his table and addressed them loudly. "That cat just stole our money!"
Ginger, the ginger cat demi-human, had told the people that the bar had run out of change and needed some coins in order to serve more drinks. He'd promised them some free drinks for their trouble, and they each had handed over some gil to him. However, instead of going to the bartender to hand over the change, Ginger just walked out of the bar. The leather bag had the "change" he'd been given, and he was now escaping out of a back door of the pub and into the streets.

Elesa watched the game interestingly, and noticed the ginger demihuman leave. She wondered what he was doing when she noticed the human talking. I hope there isn't going to be a fight, she thought. She heard the human then announce the demhuman's thievery. "What?" Elesa said, standing up. "I never noticed!"

"Look, I'll go check the back and see if I can find him." The bartender said simply, before heading through the door Ginger had left from.
The burly human male turned to address Elesa. "Yeah, he came to our table saying the bar had run out of change, and was asking for gil coins. We obliged, mainly because he offered us some free drinks, but he just left!"
The bartender returned and brought some bad news with him.
"He's nowhere in the back, and I don't think he's even a member of our staff." The bartender said gravely. "He must have escaped out the back door if you want to pursue him."
The human gave a curse and decided to pursue Ginger through the back door, along with a few others from the tables.
Darkmane had been watching and grew a little anxious at the situation. This is bad, I can't let them catch my brother. I've got to throw them off his trail...
"Let's go follow them." Darkmane said as he stood up.

Elesa listened to the human. "Don't worry! I've come across thieves like this before! He's nothing compared to who I met in Alexandria a few months back!" she said, a memory coming up into her mind like a movie. Sure, my big brother was there to catch him, but they don't need to know that! she thought fleetingly. When the bartender announced the disappearance of the fugitive, Elesa gulped as she watched the other people leave. She turned to Darkmane. "Sure, lead the way." she invited.

"...alright, fine by me, lead the way". Mack expected this thief to pay for his crimes, but an angry mob may not have been so efficient. Luckily, his girlfriend, a Dragoon named Jessabelle, had taught him a few tricks on tracking, and he hoped to put them to the test.
She had also warned him about being able to sense motives, one of many of her talents, but he forgot that, and was personally a Pollyanna of sorts. "Let's take him out, guy!"

Darkmane took the words of encouragement and lead them out through the back, where the thief had made his escape.
Ginger had taken a rather slow walking pace as he had left. He had hoped that the people he'd scammed hadn't realised what he had done until it had been too late. As such, he was in clear view of those who were pursuing him, and as he heard the angry shouts he began running as fast as he could.
After weaving his way through various alleyways and passing through several people, he managed to lose most of the humans following him. Darkmane had managed to keep sight of him and kept following him. When Ginger turned round for a brief moment, he recognised who was tailing him and slowed down to a stop.

Elesa saw the cat stop and suddenly stopped, but a little too late and bumped into Mack. "Oops...sorry!" she said sheepishly. She got a hold of herself and turned to Ginger. "Hey you! We don't appreciate thieves in this town!" she growled.

Mack, upon seeing Ginger placed his hand on his card deck. What the others had not noticed was that he had scaweled the words "they're magic!" under the word "CARDS". This was the creation of a spellcaster; a magic box which allowed the user to activate what were called Reels abilities without technology or magical ability with it. Inside were Mack's cards -- all he had to do was merely set his hand on the top, call out the name of his Reels power, and draw three cards, each card representing a reel each with a use.
In doing so, Mack set his paw on it and yelled to Ginger, "Alright, you punk, drop the Gil before I- ooh!" At that moment, however, Elesa had bumped into his, making him step forward. Accepting her apology, Mack replied, "Don't worry 'bout it... just get ready to blast 'im, kid. Alrighty then..." Mack returned his glance. "Okay, dude, you may be attractive but you're still scum in my book! So I suggest you drop that money and put yer hands up, got it?"

"Dominic!? Why did..." Ginger began before noticing Mack and Elesa, and hearing both their stands against him. He decided to draw a small dagger from his belt, and stood against them.
"Aw come on, it isn't even your money! You just want it for yourselves don't ya!?" Ginger spat back.
Darkmane, or Dominic as Ginger had called him, calmly stepped towards the thief.
"Come on now, you know you can't take out the three of us. Just hand over what you stole and we'll leave you be. It's not right to take other people's money." Darkmane then whispered something else into Ginger's ear.
"Grr...I really needed that money, but I don't wanna get torn apart by you guys...here, have it!" The thief replied before handing a bulging pouch to Darkmane and walking away into the night.

"Hmph", taunted Mack, "now that ain't the most adamant thief in the world, no?" The rat shrugged, and then, suddenly, his innocence faded and his intellect clicked on. "Waitaminute, 'Darkmane'... or, Dominic, is it? Alright, just who are you?"

Elesa heard the thief call Darkmane Dominic, and pondered for a second, but before she could speak Mack had asked the same question. "Yeah, I though you were Darkmane, or is that just a disguise?"

Dominic had been glad to see that he'd resolved the chase peacefully, but he gave a mental curse when Elesa and Mack started asking about his identity. Indeed, "Darkmane" was a street name he had been using, since it was safer for him and Ginger not to use their real names given their criminal activities.
"U-uh...Look, I'm Darkmane, alright? He was just mistaking me for someone else." He replied hastily. "Now don't you think we should head back to the pub and return this money?"

Mack raised an eyebrow at this. "Oh, really now?" he asked sarcastically. "Tch. Then whatever y'say, goes, Darkmane. Let's just get the money back and enjoy ourselves, pretend this never happened, alright then, pal? Just... fine, let's return the Gil, but I'd better you see you hand it over personally. And my eyes are staying on that sack, tough guy".

Darkmane had been relieved to hear that Mack gave him the benefit of the doubt, yet he felt slightly offended at the sudden mistrust between them. He couldn't say it surprised him, but he gave a little frown to make his feelings known as he made his response.
"Hmph. I retrieve their money for you and you start glaring daggers at me. I had nothing to do with this remember?" He held out the money pouch towards them as he continued. "You know what? Here, if you're that certain that I can't be trusted to be a good citizen and return those people's money, you take it."

Elesa watched the spat between the two men. "Hey...guys," she tried to reason. "Let's just hand the money and get back to what we were doing, ok?"

Mack felt rather irritated and with very little trust, but after hearing Darkmane and Elesa's replies gave himself a second to cool off. "...alright then", he said, putting up a hand toward the sack of Gil coins, "I guess Elesa's got a point. Sorry, Darkmane; I just wasn't sure. Yeah... let's just go, return that cash and get back to a card game".
Perking up, Mack also tosses in, "Hey, lesse if I can lose more, heheh. Just glad we ain't doing money bets, the way we started out.
