Hello there! Got a fan character/OC? Planning on making one for writing, drawing, or even RPing with? Well, have a look at these articles and take some sound advice into consideration. Hate Mary Sues? Don't we all!Fan Characters and the Curse of Mary SueI vote that reading these two articles should be mandatory before anyone decides to take up character building.

Interesting articles. Yet I doubt we'll see an immediate end to Mary Sues or Gary Stus.

Hmm useful. But theres going to be a bit of sue/stu in every charactor. can't make a flawless charactor but these should help.

hm...the first article didn't contain any uncommon information and wasn't overly interesting. The second took a more mentorly approach, including mentioning some things that are acceptable, within reason. Strangely enough, I've been thinking a lot about wish fulfillment in writing/roleplaying. Given that all I do anymore is work and roleplay(two nights a week), I've been noticing certain little things. They all sum up to my RL issues coming out in my games. Not in a favorable way either, specifically where parents are concerned.(as cool at is may sound to play D&D with your father...) I'd consider fulfilling myself through bad writing...but I don't have time between working and roleplaying(with my father...ugh)
