As the rain beat down on the once majestic city of Burmecia, a single set of footprints had led its way through the southern gate into the heart of the ruins. A lone burmecian riding a chocobo hefting tools and supplies in a cart in toe behind the flightless bird. As he road through the streets, he could see the true devastation of the city first hand. His eyes widened as he spotted his original dwelling standing in ruins, some homes becoming the dwellings for creatures that did not belong. Though he did spot hope within this cities confines, he noted the reconstruction of the city center along with refugee's carting their way in and out between what little had been spared during the attacks.
The burmecian adjusted his belt along with the supple amount of tools around in special pockets of his belt so it would be more comfortable as he hopped off the chocobo. "lets see... who should i talk to ..." He spoke to himself while he took inventory of his items before leading the chocobo into the populated area. The rain seemed to bring back old memories in this burmecian, he had been away from home far too long.
Not too long after arriving in the center of town he finally spotted a strange looking burmecian. He gave a curious wave to him as if to call him over. "Hey! do you mind giving me a hand with these?" He shouted over to him.

Sir Frato had been given probably the most mundane of tasks a Dragon Knight could possibly be asked to perform: guard duty. Thankfully, he spotted a nezumi traveller making their way towards the gate hefting equipment and tools to aid the reconstruction effort. Good, at least he had something to do on his otherwise dull shift.
"Yeah, sure." Frato answered, before moving his way over to the chocobo and grabbing one of the larger bags to carry into the city. "So what's your name stranger? Where have you come from?"

The burmecian looked over to Frato as if curious about him, having not seen a dragoon knight before. "I'm Alex... I had just traveled from Lindblum, but I was once from here... it has been far too long" he spoke while carrying some of his equipment with him. "Who are you?" Alex spoke out of curiosity to figure out what the situation at hand is.
The burmecian had picked up the rest of his supplies from the cart as he proceeded to follow the dragoon knight willfully. His gaze wrapped around the city, he had not seen it in such a condition of decay or such devastation before, it was something out of a nightmare. Though the center of town had been rebuilt first over the past year.

"I'm Sir Frato, one of the Dragon Knights." The hybrid replied. "You'd think with all the reconstruction effort going on they'd give me something more practical to do than guard duty. Hmph." Frato gave a snort, before then regarding Alex's bags. "So what's with all the heavy bags? It seems a bit excessive for someone just to be staying here..."

Alex looked at the dragoon knight as he quirked his eyebrow. "The bags are not just supplies. I have also brought some of my machine components to be re-assembled. I hope to Construct a few things while I help." Alex smiled as he followed Frato. "Where are we headed anyway?" He asked out of curiosity.

"I've been ordered to escort any arriving travellers to the nearest construction site so they can be organised with lodgings, food and put to work with the reconstruction as soon as possible." Frato replied, he then smiled. "Machine components? Just what did you do for a living in Lindblum? Do you build their airships or...?"

"I worked on airships yes, I was an engineer. I am planning on getting a team together to start construction on our own air ship after the city has been revitalized" Alex's face twitched as he thought about his work. "I Wish I were here to help defend the city though... I nearly got killed in Lindblum by some... creature." The burmecian shuddered at the thought.

Frato nodded as Alex explained his plans to construct an airship of his own. When he mentioned defending the city, he frowned a little.
"Hey, if you nearly got killed in Lindblum, you wouldn't have fared any better here. Defending the city is a job for the military..." Frato sighed, he too remembered something painful. Dismissing the thought, he then smiled as he thought of something amusing. "Heh, I bet I won't get much action whilst we're rebuilding. I do hope they start running the Dragon Knight tournament in the palace sometime soon."
The hybrid's ear then twitched, as he heard a raised voice shouting in the distance. Concerned, he start heading towards it, wondering what was causing such a disturbance.
"Those Alexandrian bastards should all go to hell!" The unknown voice roared.

Alex turned his head towards the direction of the shouting "Should we check that out?" He asked the Hybrid. The burmecians equipment slapped against each other as he jogged in the direction curiously.
"Quiet yourself! Your miss-information will be the end of us!" Another voice was heard from around the corner shouting at him.

Frato lead Alex towards the commotion, and it appeared that the first unknown voice belonged to a strange black haired Burmecian who was wearing a set of peculiar red robes. He was evidently arguing with someone.
"Misinformation?" The robed nezumi repeated, getting more angry. "Those Alexandrians tried to commit genocide on our species! And you claim saying they should go to hell will end us all? Hah!"
Sir Frato frowned, but decided not to say anything for the moment and watch more of the scene before he intervened.

"Do you suggest we go to war while we are repairing our city? What kind of logic is that?! Get over here I need you to come with me" The guard ordered him with a stern look and a hand motion.
Alex looked at the two burmecians conversing with eachother before turning his head to Frato. "What do you suggest we do?..." He said in a low voice to the Dragoon Knight.

"I never said anything about going to war...I just said that the Alexandrians can go to hell." The black haired nezumi replied sternly. "And why should I go anywhere with you?"
"Never mind this, you're both making a racket with all this shouting and arguing." Frato finally spoke. "I don't care about what you think of the Alexandrians, just quiet down will you?"
"Fine by me, I need to head to a meeting anyway. At least my friends won't argue with me about those stupid Alexandrians." The black haired stranger then marched off in a huff.
Frato looked a little confused and irritated, and looked at Kaz for an explanation. "Just what was that about?"

"I have no idea..." Kaz shook his head. "Who's this?..." Kaz spoke while looking over Alex curiously. "Another new civilian?" Alex looked to the guard with a curious quirk of his eyebrow. "Hello...?" He tilted his head without being sure what to say to the fellow burmecian.

Frato gave an irritated sigh as Kaz didn't tell him more about what had happened. Yet as long as the argument had been quelled, the hybrid reasoned that everything was sorted out. He then heard Kaz ask about Alex and realised he hadn't introduced the two yet.
"Ah...sorry. Alex, this is Kaz...Kaz, Alex." Frato promptly introduced the two to each other. "Yeah, he's another one here to help the reconstruction. With all the help we've been getting you'd think the city would be fully rebuilt already! Heh. Anyway, I was taking him towards one of the construction sites so he could be sorted out, so we'd better head off. See ya."
Frato then turned to leave.

"Alright, I will stay here and keep things in order. You bring your new friend to his work." Kaz nodded to Frato as he stood at attention by the nearest refurbished building.
Alex's gaze went from Kaz to Frato as he noticed the burmecian go back to work. "Appears your all busy here. What type of work would i be doing anyway?" The mechanic asked eagerly. "I really want to see this place back together... these terrible events have brought us all together... but people like that are right in some ways... but in others they are not..." He sighed following along with Frato.

"Sure thing." Frato answered, giving a little salute to Kaz stood to attention at his proclaimed post before leading Alex away again towards the construction camp.
"Feh. Much as I would love to get my own back against those Alexandrians, the last thing we want to do right now is go baiting them and inciting another war." The hybrid answered with a frown. "Besides, they're busy rebuilding too, and they have a new Queen...let's hope Freya's confidence in Garnet is not woefully misplaced. Anyway, as for what you'll likely be doing, it's not my call to make. Although I guess a mechanic will be called into either fix some of the machines in the higher class houses and the royal palace...or possibly helping to ensure the sewage system is running smoothly."

"Well that bodes well for me... Working in a sewer... I'm pretty sure the only machines that require repairs are the pumps to keep the water flowing in and out of the city. I heard they have problems keeping up with pumping the water out as it falls." Alex droned on and on about mechanical stuff Frato might not understand as he waves his hands and arms about in explanation. "That is why they float." He ended as he looked towards the construction sight "Looks busy" The burmecian finally quieted himself as he stayed near to the hybrid.

Frato spent the next few minutes trying to get a word in as Alex went into a full technical explanation about the sewers. When he thought he wasn't gonna be able to change the subject anytime soon, the hybrid simply switched off in listening to Alex and started daydreaming about a reconstructed Burmecia and an intense battle against his favourite knights in the Dragon Knight tournament.
As the construction camp came into view, Frato snapped out of his daydream and started looking for the soldier in charge of directing new workers. The sit was indeed busy as Alex noted, with several Burmecians scurrying to and fro with building materials and moving towards damaged and ruined homes where other nezumi were busy rebuilding. Already the improvements the group had made were apparent, with new walls standing bright against old stone that had survived the attack. Yet the Burmecian workers showed no sign of slowing down, there was still much to be done.
As Frato continued to look, he noticed another nezumi looking rather lost and wondering what to do. Feeling he should kill two birds in one stone, the hybrid marched over to address him.
"Hey, you're looking a bit confused." The Dragoon addressed the new stranger, who seemed to wearing traditional merchant clothes. "What's your name stranger? I'm Sir Frato, and I'm already helping Alex here to get assigned to a job. You needing some help?"

The nezumi in question didn't at first respond. Backpack slung over one arm, the yellow and brown tunic and dark gray trousers easily marked him as a merchant; almost as if he was playing up to the cliche. A brown cap sat atop his head, nestled between his ears, the somewhat drab color offset by the sandy colored fur of them. What wasn't cliche, however, was the fact that most of his appendages seemed to be covered in bandages, straight down to his tail. Even a good quarter of his face had such a treatment, white linen wrapped diagonally from the middle of his head, across his left eye, and back around his head just barely out of the way of hampering mouth movement. He leaned heavily on a cane, despite how relatively youthful the nezumi looked.
One ear twitched as the nezumi's good eye shifted around quite a bit as he took in the construction camp. Not only looking lost, but more than a little crestfallen, the male eventually turned around to face the Dragoon that addressed him. "Oh, thank goodness, not just another one of those whispers!" he said suddenly, grinning at his fellow Burman, crestfallen look banished almost immediately.
As though he realized his own words were odd, he took a step back from both Alex and Frato, waving his clawed hands in the air. "Err...ahem! Apologies, still a little tired from my journey here. Ristano Ingram. I'm sure you've heard of my family, Sir Frato. Or so I'd like to think, anyway...so much competition. Or...at least there was. I've seen little of either my competitors or my own family."
A nod was given to Alex. "What can I do to help? Been looking around...my family dealt in books and printing presses, but I've got a few medical supplies on me. Mostly for myself, but, if it will help..."
His ear suddenly flicked backwards, muzzle and head snapping to his side as if startled by something. The nezumi calmed after a moment of staring at air. An embarrassed look was given to Frato.
"Ahh...jumpy. Sorry. I guess we're all a bit of a mess these days."

Frato was a little surprised to see how injured this Ristano looked, but he kept his thoughts about it to himself. Not all of the survivors were unscathed after the black mage attack. He did make a bemused expression when the merchant mentioned whispers though, the hybrid wondered if the war had not just affected him physically.
"Yeah...well everything's peaceful now, and I'm sure we can find you some work to do. There's plenty going round." Frato answered, before turning to lead the pair away. "Come on then, let's go find the camp organiser."
As the dragon knight led them further into the camp, his ears twitched again as he heard another argument, although this time he recognised one of the voices as Sir Gregory's, a Dragon Knight friend who had a much calmer and peaceful nature than the hybrid.
"Look, I've already told you that you're not welcome here. Now will you please just leave?"
It turns out the knight was trying hard to politely as a rowdy red-haired nezumi to move out of the camp. Unfortunately the redhead was not having it.
"If you won't let me build on the camps, you could at least give me some of the building materials so I can start repairing my residence area!"
