The Bangaa was seen flinching at the sight of Adelaide's glare. Despite what history says about the toughness and ferocity of the Bangaa clan, they aren't immune to fear as shown on his face. Immediately regretting his decision, the man quickly turned to one of his customers to refrain from gazing at her once more.
Upon heard the voice of the little pup, the wizardly mage turned his eyes curiously to her. The nu mou seemed advanced in his age, showing wrinkles under his eyes and many strands of long gray hair escaping from his pointy blue hat. Momentarily squinting his eyes and staring, he proceeded to fish out a pair of silver spectacles out of his pockets and equipped them. Upon being able to see the young girl finally, the man was seen showing a look of surprise and fear, but that quickly passed as his penchant for business took over.
"Ah, why hello little one! Yes, you heard right, I do teach spells, and I even sell scrolls if you prefer to learn them by yourself! But...are you here to learn or buy for yourself? Because, forgive my assumptions, you appear to be more placed in the role of swordplay than magicks. Then again, all I see is a wooden shield and sword, for all I know, they could just be toys. No matter, a magician's duty is to never turn away a curious mind! Especially one from a child, ha ha!"
Excited, the mage leaned over to looked over the coyote once more. The stares he gave almost looked as tho he was trying to see what's under her clothing. "Hmmmm...Have you thought about your chosen profession, little one? Have you truly decided to convert to the one true path of wisdom; mastering the arcane arts? Or, perhaps you prefer to...ugh." The elder took a moment to give a look of disgust to the vieran woman shouting her ads for her dojo. "Have you already decided to go the path of least resistance and trade brain for brawn. Such a waste of talent...wait. What am I saying? I haven't asked you what your profession is or wether you intend to buy my spells regardless of your class. Sorry, the older you get, the farther you get ahead of yourself. Silly me! Well, ye of great potential? Shall I show you my wares, or would you like to know more about the wonderful world of arcane occupations?"
(Note that you can still buy low level spells, but many others you will be unable to equip unless you choose a specific class like white mage or summoner. =P)

". . . Great potential?" Adelaide replied, fidgeting, having trouble following everything the man was saying.
"I'm not sure what to say, really. I guess before anything else I should ask how much you are charging. . . I'm hoping to learn a basic healing spell, but I'm honestly not sure how much things like that should cost."
As the pup stood there in the street before the mage she was becoming increasingly aware of how tired she was, and just how much the day had demanded of her. Adjusting her grip on the chocobo's reins, she quickly continued.
". . . Actually, I guess that I should ask if you would be here tomorrow? I still need to find an inn for the night, and for the moment I'm really in no condition to try to learn anything. . . But I am still very interested in a healing spell, if you could teach me one later!"

"Ah, yes yes. Forgive me." The elder apologized and bowed his head down several times. holding his hat so as not to fall. "Many apoligies indeed for acting so forward. Whenever I see a child become interested in the arcane, my heart flutters and my faith in this world grows several folds, ha ha! But I digress, I will most certainly be here on the 'morrow. But let me look for some healing spells for you...hmmm...Ah! Here we are! Here, have a look see."
Cure - Price: 250 Gil - Heals 3-4 damage to one person. 2-3 Hp is healed if used on a group.
Poisana - Price: 200 Gil - Removes the 'Poison' and 'Toxic' status effect.
Blindna - Price: 200 Gil - Removes the 'Blind' status effect.
"I'm sorry, but these are the only beginner curative spells I have available. Once you join a occupation in the arcane arts, then I shall show you a whole trove of delightful spells! If you buy any, I can give it to you in scroll form, which you can read later or give to someone else to learn. Or I can teach it to you right now. But sadly, you have already said that's not possible, and I understand. May I also suggest a fine inn for you to stay in as well? It's a little place called Mary Bella's Warm Home. A wonderful place and comes equipped with a stable. They are quite cheap and you will get a discount from there if you buy any of my spells. What do you say, little one?"

"I would really love to learn 'Cure' tomorrow Mr. . ." the coyote said, stifling a small yawn, ". . What should I call you?"
Scratching the back of her head, Adelaide smiled tiredly and briefly looked up at her chocobo as she wondered what it was thinking about. And then asked herself why she cared. And then quickly returned her attention to the man she was talking with, being that they were in a conversation.
"And I'm sorry if I seem like I'm in a hurry, but could you tell me how to get to that inn? I don't mean to be rude. . . I'm just tired and having trouble focusing."

"Zillian." The nu mou quoted his name to the young lady. "And please, you don't have to call me 'Mr.' or 'Sir', makes me feel older than I already am. Ha ha." He chuckled whilst taking off glasses to clean them with his robe. He placed his spectacles back onto his muzzle and looked at the sky.
"Hmmm, yes. S'ppose it is becoming somewhat late for you tykes, not that I'd know. Never had kids. But that's a subject for another day. A shame you can't purchase it now, but I think I can trust you, little one. So what I'm going to do is hold on to the spell you'd like to learn. Not only that, you can go ahead and tell the innkeeper there my name, she'll give you a discount for staying. All I ask is that you tell her I said 'hello' and give her my regards. Now then, the inn I was speaking about is in Plethra Corner. Go back the way you came from here, take a right and keep going until you pass two streets. Afterwards, take a left and it'll be the second building to your right. You can't miss it since it's built to have 4 chimneys up top."
With his last act, the man patted the chocobo and responded to Adelaide with his own smile. "Alright. That's that! I will see you on the morrow. Until we meet again, future student on mine!" The chocobo squawked in accordance and turned away, intelligent enough to understand the directions given to her. Walking away from the mage's stand and careful not to bump into any other people taking to the sidewalk, the two casually walked to their destination, tho on occasion the chocobo would turn back to look her her rider.
Then out of the blue, someone whistled for their attention and the feathered fowl stopped to look at the direction it came from. In between a dark alley with little light reach in between, a lone adult figure stood looking up to the kit riding the chocobo. The woman, who's race appear to be a somewhat young porcupine wearing leather armour complete with a robe and hoodie almost covering her face, gave a wolfish grin towards her. "Hey kid, wanna make some easy money?" She said, her voice almost down to a whisper and trying to entice. "All you have to do is deliver something to a...friend of mine, and I'll give you 200 Gil. He lives close to here, hardly take a minute to get there. See? Easy. You won't get this kind of opportunity anywhere, kid. Whaddya say?"

Adelaide stared blankly at the porcupine, her exhaustion due to the events of the day and confusion at the young lady's offer both plainly showing on her face. Shaking her head slightly to bring herself back to reality the girl tried her best to reply courteously in spite of the stranger's unsettling demeanor.
"Lady, I have had a very. . ." suddenly unsure about how to actually describe it, "A lot has happened today, and unless you want whatever it is delivered to M'Bella's Warm Home you want some other girl."

"Aw come on, don't be like that." Apparently the woman was having a hard time accepting the hint Adelaide was giving, even as far as trying to walk towards her. She kept her grin on her face as she pulled the particular package she wanted delievered out from behind her back. It was as large as the rouge-ish female's head and taped rather over-securely; the crate was shut with a strong thick-looking lock and the wooden panels looks sturdy enough to survive a blow from a hammer. One thing was out of place however. The bottom of the crate seemed darkened and shined in the sun, as if it was placed in an inch of water and left for several hours. The porcupine's hands seemed careful to make sure she was holding onto it from the middle as not to go near the bottom.
With a careful grip, she pulled out her left arm and used it to point to a street corner that was only a few dozen paces away. "See that? Right behind it is a butcher shop called 'Vern's Butchery' That's where it needs to go. Just head inside, give the package to the owner, and get out. 2 minutes at most, easy peasy. This a golden opportunity for you, girl. Don't waste it. If you say no, I know you'll regret it."

'Geez. . . What is this girl's problem?' Adelaide thought, letting out a loud sight and closing her eyes as she tried to retain some measure of composure.
"Lady," the coyote began, opening her eyes to glare at the porcupine, "what is your problem? It's clear you want to pay me to do something bad, I told you I'm tired, I told you 'no'. I don't want the money, I just want to get to bed. Go find some other kid."

The little kit's glare seemed to prove far more successful than her words. The porcupine seemed to have lost her smile and backed away a few steps from the surprisingly strong-willed girl. The rouge was now wearing a scowl. "Hmph, fine. Whatever. Not like you're the only person in this city anyways. Go ahead and go, see where that attitude gets ya, kid." Defeated, the woman walked back into the alley and into the darkness to prey upon another.
With that settled, the chocobo was free to ride safely down to their intended destination. Arriving, they come to a homely stone building accompanied with nearly a dozen windows with flowery curtains. Those that are not closed off to the night air could visibly show a bright flickering light that seemed to be coming across the room. Perhaps a nice warm fireplace? The smell of a light flowery perfume was detected as the two came close and closer to the wooden entrance of the inn, welcoming and not strong enough to attack the senses.
The sound of a chocobo, different from the one Adelaide was riding, was heard from a building right to the side of the inn, remade into an open stable where several animals including chocobos were sleeping and grazing. A lone male, a anthropomorphic monkey wearing a simple shirt and trousers infested with hay, tended to the flock with a bucket of greens when he noticed the little girl coming.
"Oh hey, uh, howdy. Yea." The young man said with a goofy grin, his teeth were yellow and he possessed a somewhat bucktoothed feature. "Ya, um, here to stay? Or are, um, ya parents here? Plum small fer you to, uh...oh, to walk around all alone. Well pay me no mind, what can I uh...help ya with?"

The tired pup was about to answer the man's question when she was suddenly overcome by a massive yawn, momentarily putting her many straight, sharp teeth on display before she could cover her mouth. As the yawn finished she let her head droop, eyes close, and sighed quietly.
Presently Adelaide let her half-lidded eyes meet those of the monkey standing across from her.
". . .Please tell me you have a bed, Mister?" the girl asked, nearly begging.

The male monkey noticeably flinched when he saw the canines in the particular canine's mouth, but shook his head and tried to remember that he was dealing with a child. "Oh...um...right. Yes. Um. Yes, I reckon we uh...do. yes." Walking up, the anthro primate walked up awkwardly towards them, and slowly reach for the chocobo's ropes. The bird itself was cautious of this stranger and made no efforts to stop him.
"Easy girl, I uh...got ya. Just wanna get ya to your um...temporary home, yea." He said gently, coo-ing it in a expert manner. "Beautiful thing, she is. Mm-hmm. Sure is. I'll take good care of her from here, um, yea. Just let the misses at the front desk know you gots a chocobo at the stable. By the way, uh, what's her name? Figure she'll need something to call by other than 'feather butt'. Heh heh."

'What. . . Name. . .?' the thought crossed Adelaide's mind as the girl yawned again in response to the monkey's question, this time not even bothering to cover her mouth.
"Its name. . . I think it's called Nutmeg? Maybe Malibu. . .? I can't remember. . ." the girl said, her eyes beginning to open more as her ears drooped. "But I think she's called 'Annie'?"
The coyote smiled weakly up at her bird before letting her eyes close again. Exhaustion had clearly caught up with the girl, and any kind of reserves she had been drawing from were at their limit. Breathing slowly, deeply, the pup turned the whole of her attention to the building's entrance (almost seeming to forget about the stable-man and the chocobo as she made her way towards it.)
'What a day. . .'

Adelaide's chocobo warked excitedly, almost to the point of jumping up and down, as she was hearing what she will be called. The feathered friend was especially fond of the last suggestion.
"Mmmm...Annie, that's a good name. Sure looks like uh...one, too." The monkey said and petted the chocobo once more. Alright, that's all I um...need. You uh, go ahead and meet the misses for me. Don't you uh...worry or anything. She'll be in good paws. Yep."
Finally leaving at her own pace, the kit reached up to the Inn's doorway and opened. A refreshing gust of warm air gusts onto the kit, accompanied with the smells of yeast. In front was a large wooden desk with several piles of papers stacked neatly and a single lit candle. Sitting in it was a elderly woman of the nu mou race. Her grey hair flowed in a single ponytail and she wore brown-tinted glasses in front of her eyes. She was busy writing down what was on her mind to see Adelaide come in. But when the doors was closed, she perked up and looked at the child with a small shock.
"Hmm!? Oh! A customer. Forgive me, I was tending to the bills and...oh ho, my goodness. You look more tired than my stable-hand on the holiday." She said, noticing the look of fatigue on the poor coyote. She tried to give a friendly smile to make up for being absent-minded from earlier. "Well, I'm glad you've come. I'm Mary Bella, but you can call me Miss since it's a nickname that stuck to me like glue since I bought this property. Are you here to reserve a room? It's 25 Gil for the night and we serve breakfast in the morning at sunrise. Or, perhaps you're here for another reason?"

"Room and breakfast. . . No miss, I'm only here for a bed. . ." said the girl, smiling somewhat in reply to the nu mou's own and somewhat in anticipation of getting off of her feet. Removing her purse, she placed it delicately on the desk, doing her best not to upset any of the papers. "Will this be enough for the night?"
In an attempt to keep her eyes from closing fully (knowing that if they ever did she wouldn't ever be able to pry them open again) the still smiling coyote looked up and awkwardly made eye-contact with the woman, suddenly forgetting what she wanted to say.

The smile of the kit's removed what could've been a awkward interaction between the two. The woman took a moment to look at the coins placed on her table and used a long wrinkled finger to help herself count them out.
"twenty-two...twenty-three...twenty-four....yes! It's all here." The nu mou raked the needed coins off the desk and into a purse, then she brought out a single bronzed key. "Hear you go, sweetheart. just go down that hallway, second door on the left. Breakfast starts after sunrise, where I will knock on your door and bring it to you. Hope you like omelettes!" The woman waved good-bye and left her alone, going back to paying the bills on her desk.
Across the dimly lit hallway and the well-maintained carpet, she found the room door she was looking for. It opened effortlessly from the keys use and opened up to a dark room. But through the light of the hallway candle-lights, she can see that it was really well-decorated. Flowers seemed to be the theme; paintings, the carpet, the drapes, and even the bed had a rosy touch. Tho over-done, it wasn't enough to suffocate the girl's sense of aesthetics. One would be certain that the air would have the same fragrance as well, but the smell of burnt wood from a near-by fireplace seemed to have dulled it, perhaps by the previous vacant. Fresh wood, tinder, and a flint has been supplied just out of arms reach of the fireplace for easy access. The air around the kit was only slightly chilly, but not enough to bother her if she should try to sleep. The bed was neatly made with the warm looking blanket hung over. The pillow was large enough to fit two adult heads and is quite soft. There will be no trouble sleeping in this.

With yet another massive yawn the pup surveyed her new room, sighing loudly and completely unable to contain her wide, tired, toothy grin. Ignoring the fireplace she made her way to the foot of the bed, quickly dumping her gear and beginning to undress.
Her cloak, belt and shirt were simple enough, presenting no more trouble than usual, but moving to sit on the bed to remove her shoes the dull pain in her tail turned sharp and flashed up her spine. Grunting loudly, Adelaide grimiced and turned to look back at her tail.
'I guess I'd forgotten it was broken. . .' was all that came to her foggy mind as she saw it was still bent at a strange angle.
Grimicing again, the coyote knelt to untie and remove her shoes before removing her trousers and very gingerly crawling into bed. Laying on her stomach, head to one side with her folded arms supporting her cheek, her breathing slowed as she dropped off to sleep. . .
The roar of the storm caused Adelaide's eyes to open suddenly. Terrible winds, titanic cracks of thunder, and the sound of roaring water in all directions. . . But all the coyote could feel was a gentle breeze on her face (clearly being in the storm's eye.) The girl slammed her eyes shut again, curling tightly into the smallest ball she could and trying not to cry out in fear.
"Daddy. . . Daddy. . . Where are you? Mommy, help me. . . I don't know where I am. . ." the orphan whispered into her pillow, tears welling. Even through her closed eyelids she seemed to be able to see dark figures approaching her, and could smell the sticky-sweet iron of blood on them. "Mommy, who are they? It's happening again. . . Please. . ."
As the figures closed on her the storm seemed to follow. The sound of water roaring in her ears and the feeling of rain being driven against her body, Adelaide found it increasingly difficult to breathe; every breath smelt thick and heavy as the air seemed to turn liquid. . .
And as suddenly as it had begun the tempest vanished.
Shaking with cold the girl opened her eyes to find a world consumed by darkness. The only thing she could see was her own naked body, and even that was difficult for her eyes to focus on. . . But there was a whisper in her ears.
"You're always so afraid of those guys. . ." said a familiar voice.
Rising to her feet the shivering pup turned about, searching for the source of the voice.
"That was quite a day, don't you think? It was exhausting, and a little painful, but really not too bad. . . We met some nice people."
Turning to look behind herself again, Adelaide was confronted by the whispy, almost translucent image of a young coyote. The nude girl's body seemed to match her own in almost every respect excepting her face. . . It seemed to display a natural softness, an innocent expression that Adelaide's wary tension could never allow.
The two girl's eyes met, one smiling pleasantly and the other clearly uncomfortable.
"And you killed two men today." the girl continued.
". . . What? Why would I do that? I don't believe you." replied the clearly nervous Adelaide.
"Who can say why? But you did. You let that hyena's head get ground into pulp, and you saved that bird. . . Annie?. . . by letting that pig-thing get eaten. You killed the two them." said the new girl quietly but with complete assurance of her statement's validity.
"No, it couldn't have been me. That was someone else. I saw her try to save that cart driver. . . It wasn't me. And saw her again in the shower. . . She saved me and Terka from being. . ." Adelaide said, cringing.
"Tsk tsk tsk. . ." the doppleganger clucked with smirk. "Oh, it was definitely you. I certainty haven't seen any other adorable coyote-pups wandering around this place. Have you?"
One of her eyes twitching briefly, Adelaide's gaze fell to the ground as she was unable to offer a retort.
"Awww. . . Don't be like that!" said the girl, suddenly trying to sound supportive, "Guys like that aren't worth the trouble. Besides, it felt kind of good, wouldn't you say? And think of what would have happened if you hadn't done it."
"I know they're bad, and I hate them, but. . . did it?" Adelaide asked, unsure that she'd felt anything at the time aside from fear.
"We'll decide that if it happens again. . . We can talk more later. . ." said the other pup with a wavering voice.
The darkness, along with the other girl, evaporated when the coyote's eyes slowly opened, greeted by the light of a setting moon as Adelaide woke from the dream.

Almost as soon as the pup's dream came to an end, she was awoken by the sound of a series of metallic clicks. Judging by the darkness that enveloped the room, the sun has not risen and she only managed to gain a few hours of much needed sleep. The metallic clinks and clicks continued to bring it's annoying symphony to the coyote's ears.
The sounds seems to be originated towards the doorway, as the handle seemed to be fidgeting quite alot. It sounded as tho someone was trying to work out the lock in order to gain entry inside, tho judging by how hard the sounds were, there wasn't much success and the person is becoming more frustrated. However it will be a matter of time before whoever it is outside succeeds...

Adelaide took a moment to shake the fog of sleep from her mind, and force down her residual fear, quickly recognizing where she was. The pup, hearing someone at her door pushed her head and shoulders off of the bed with her forearms.
"If you want to come in then you should knock." she called brusquely, turning her head towards the door. "Who the hell are you at this time of night?

Once Adelade called out to the person from the other side of the door, the door handle immediately stopped shaking and the tinkering noise halted. And almost just as instantaneous, sounds of footsteps in the form of running begun; quick and frantic. As the interlopers flight became muffled to silence by distance, Adelaide was once again left alone to herself. The hour which she awoke from brought few noises from the outside world as few would actually travel at such a late time.
There is no telling however that the mysterious troublemaker won't be back and will leave the coyote two choices; stay up for the remainder of time in case the rouge comes back, or sleep it off as if what happened was nothing to worry about.
Be warned that staying up will give Adelaide the Exhaustion status effect; which grants -10% accuracy, -10% evasion, and -50% escape success rate until she rests again.
(Of course those aren't the ONLY choices she can do, as she can go outside and investigate or try to sleep somewhere safer, ect)

As the muffled footsteps quieted the young girl let her head drop back down onto her arms, grunting into her pillow as she did.
'Damn. . . Why would anyone want to break in here. . .? It's too early for this. . .' Adelaide thought to herself, stifling a yawn. Grunting again, the pup closed her eyes and tried to get back to sleep.
