Mack blushed as pink as Cal's tail cloth. Though he did like Cal, as Cal was his first real friend (and imagine Mack's surprise when he found out about Cal's... erm, ways!), Mack knew he was more heavily in love with the Dragoon of Burmecian, Jessabelle Ambrosia. Cal and Mack had come to Treno on a retreat of sorts, just because of a dispute the Gambler and Dragoon had earlier.
Unfortunately for Mack, Cal did not like the idea of some girl who suddenly waltzed into his lover's life taking his friend from him. Yet this wasn't exactly sudden -- Mack had met Jess when he was roughly 13, and Jess 12. This clashed further; Cal had known Mack since the two were 10. Mack was worried in the back of his mind that Cal would take things competitively for his heart with Jess, who'd accept in a heartbeat.
A cuss word that's probably not good to write in a PG-13 forum like this eminated from Mack's throat as he heard that Darkmane was escaping. This... furry had begun to irritate him, and the final straw was snapped. His facial skin turned from rosy to blood red. "YOU CUR!" he yelled at Darkmane, almost demonically possessed-sounding. "CAL! GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR AND STOP HIM!" Cal, a Black Mage, began to chant a spell at his boyfriend's command, and Mack drew from his deck three cards, calling out "ELEMENT REELS!" The three cards drawn glowed with energies of spells; the first, icy, the second, shadowy, and the third, fiery in form. With his spell complete, Cal thrust a finger forward, calling out "Thunder!", and as he did, Mack threw his three cards, which had fused together. The bolt from the Thunder spell was aimed at Dark's back, the card at his hamstrings.

Elesa squealed as she watched the action pass on, then looked up to see Clag focusing his thoughts to a spell. "FIRE!" he said, as a flame erupted from his fingertips, spreading to just in front of Dark, ready to stop Darkmane in his tracks. Ar'Nald grabbed Elesa and tucked her behind him for protection, much to her protest.

Unfortunately for Darkmane's pursuers, the cat had been quick to turn and pelt down the street out of view from the bar. Mack's thunder spell shot at where Darkmane had been just a split-second before, and Clag's fire spell formed well to late to stop the conman, he had been too fast to be caught by a spell.

"Damn it," Ar'Nald whined. "He's good at this!" Clag sighed, then chuckled non-humourlessly at Ar'Nald. "What do you expect? He's a conman. He does this all the time." Ar'Nald shrugged. "Yeah, you're right." Elesa popped up from behind Ar'Nald. "Is it over yet?" she said, almost wearily.

The black-haired bi rat was crushed as his boyfriend had helped give Darkmane the slip. " No, this is NOT happening", he groaned, losing his rage. He stomped his foot down hard on the floor. "Blast it!"
Cal tried to comfort his friend, as he placed a hand on his shoulder and sighed, "I'm... too sorry for this, Mack. I really am. I wouldn't hold it against you if you ran from me like Jessica did- oops..." The word 'oops' spilt for two reasons -- one, he slipped up and feared Mack would deck him for mentioning his girlfriend, and two, Cal always loved to have Mack stew in his homosexuality until Mack had the courage to refuse and tell others of his bisexuality; something he had too much pride or became too embarrased to tell otherwise.
Mack shrugged. "Jessabelle, her name is", he said. "And don't worry about it. This is my fault. I shoulda ran at that guy and torn him to kibble. It's my screw-up; I should've left the inn." Mack slowly trotted over to his harp. "Meet me outside, Cal."

Elesa sighed. "Now what do we do?" she said, feeling the excitement ebb away slowly. Clag stepped forward. "Elesa, you know we have a show tonight." "We do?" she blinked, absent-mindedly. "I thought we couldn't find a venue!" "We couldn't," Clag agreed, nodding. "But before Ar'Nald dragged me here I was talking to a noble who owns a large courtyard, plenty of enough space. He agreed through the exchange of money to let us perform there." Elesa took it all in; the next second a huge grin was on her face and she was hugging Ar'Nald. "This is great!" she turned round to everyone else in the pub. "Everyone, we're having a performance tonight, in the random noble's place. Feel free to come along, tickets are only 50 Gil!" her face shone with pride and excitement at the thought of performing in Treno.

(OOC: Robshi, where are you?)
Mack felt nothing but full responsibility for the escape. He picked up his harp, barely acknowledging the offer that Elesa made. "Eh, yeah", he said to her, "whatever. I'll come along. Cal's gonna tag along, correct?"
Cal blinked. "Y'sure now? I say that because a) I don't know anything about that dame, and b) we sure as hell didn't come to Treno just to --"
As Cal was (somehow) the more dominant typically, it only took a flash of rage and self-guilt from Mack to make the Black Mage quiver. Mack was wroth at his ally's rudeness, and gripping his coat collar growled through grit teeth, "CORRECT?!" The intense look made his purple eyes look like a pair of sharp amythest spears.
"Ulp... right. Correct", said Cal, turned weak in seconds.

Clag turned to his younger siblings. "I have to round up the others and tell them the show's on. Why don't you two stay here for a bit before coming over?" he said, gesturing towards the crowd.
"Huh? Yeah, sure." Ar'Nald said, and he ruffled Elesa's hair. "I'll make sure this little squirt doesn't run into trouble." he overheard Cal's remark towards her offer and felt a rush of hostility, but before he could get his fist out Mack was already seeing to him. That guy better watch it, he thought to himself. I don't want trouble for my sis.
Elesa sighed. "Guys, don't start fighting again." she said more to herself in a defeated tone.

As the group of guys made their squabbles, someone else entered the bar. Another cat demi-human, only this was a female, with light, tawny fur and wearing an attractive yellow dress. She calmly and quietly approached the bar.
(OOC: I've been waiting to see what happened, since both of my characters left the bar. Since this thread's ground to a halt, I'm throwing in a new character.)

"Well," Elesa said, "what do you want to do?" Ar'Nald's attention had been drawn to the newcomer, "huh?" he simply replied to Elesa, without keeping his eyes off the demi-human. "Er, hello?" Elesa waved a hand in front of his face, but he was already walking up to the bar and sitting next to her. Yegads, Elesa rolled her eyes in annoyance. My brother is hopeless.
Ar'Nald reached towards the cat and putting on a charming smile said, "Hey there. Fancy seeing a show tonight?"

The woman noticed the approaching red mage, and listened to Ar'Nald's greeting.
"Oh, a show? What kind of show? Is it a play?" She replied with some interest.

Ar'Nald grinned. "It's sort of a magic show with gymnastics. I can give you a free seat if you want..." he raised his eyebrows.
Elesa meanwhile was pretending she didn't know him. Everytime, she thought defeated, everytime we're in a new city and there's a show about to happen...

"Hmm...sounds like fun." The cat replied. "Are you really going to give me a free ticket? That's really generous of you..."

Ar'Nald couldn't believe his luck. Normally the girls I talk to have slapped me by now. But then again, that was just that pub in Lindblum, and everyone knows all the disgruntled women go there to drink...perhaps Treno is just what I needed...
He sat on the stool next to her and smiled again. "No sweat. It's good publicity anyway. Can I get you a drink? My name's Ar'Nald Wildern."

Ar'Nald nodded. "Yup, me and my family are taking part. Oh, that's my little sister over there, she's in it too." he waved a hand in Elesa's direction, where Elesa was trying to sneak out unnoticed.
"Dammit." Elesa cursed under her breath before putting on a fake smile and waving.

(OOC: Mack and Cal had left. Due to that, they'll be around in time for the show. But for now I need a character. Hence, enter, stage right, cat.)
As soon as the black haired and blonde haired rats left the pub, they both bumped into a lass of a cat. She made a light "oof!" noise as she stumbled.
"Oh! Shucks, sorry about that", said Mack. Cal instead told, "Hey, watch it, you..." Both now saw what was before them. It was a blonde-haired calico. On her was a dark-blue tanktop with a white crescent moon. Her cute little tummy showed; underneath her belly button was a black skirt with gold trim. On her hands were a pair of "kunoichi" bracers... they were dark-blue with crescents like her shirt, and they extended over her hand's top and curved in between her middle and index fingers. She didn't wear any shoes this time around. Her accessories were a black and silver collar and tag, with a blue headband. Inset on the band was an aqua gem.
"It's... alright?" she said in a low voice. She seemed a little socially shy, that is until she realized what Cal had said. "As for you, blondie", she said, pointing her left finger, "ye'd best keep that freakin' mouth shut. Word of advice".
"Word of advice? You-" Cal's threat was choked out as his mate tugged him away. "Now, now, Calvin, play nice", said Mack. The two walked out in the direction of the inn they were at. "Well now, sorry, ma'am. This one's a bit... female-aphobic", he apologized before vanishing into night.
"Uh... oh...?" Female-aphobic? She hoped that the Drinking Pit wasn't a gay bar. With a little hope, she walked into the bar and requested of the bartender, "...erm, have you wine?"

"Oh, I see..." Kit replied as she looked at Elesa. "Hi there!"
Meanwhile, the bartender was busy serving his new customer.
"Aye, we have wine. What kind of wine do ya want?"

The calico shrugged. "Red's fine", she said. She shivered a bit, then turned around. Her ears, which were a bit drooped, began to perk up. She thought to herself, everything will be fine.

"Alright then...here you are." The bartender answered as he served his customer. He then looked over towards Ar'Nald and Kit, who were standing at the bar. "Hey, can I get you two something?"
"Huh? Oh yes!" Kit replied, turning around. "This lovely gentlemen here was gonna get me a small lager and lime, weren't you sweetie?" She smiled at the red mage, using her charm.
