"Hmm...not really." Bruno answered, retracing his steps in his earlier pursuit. "Although he lead us down a few back alleys, maybe his scent will be easier to pick up there."

Bruno lead Katzi down the path he'd recalled the pursuit from and sure enough he lead her down a few back alleys. After sniffing the air, he found there were very few scents lingering in the air here and it was easier to pick out distinct smells.

With some thankfulness, Katzi detected more clear scents easier. "This shan't take too long now", she commented, sniffling. "Thank you, Bruno". Busy on her job, she strolled through the dark alleyway she was in now, her right hand pressing to her side.
With a brush of her bangs, Katzi walked forward, her toes' claws clicking on the Renaissance equivalent of pavement. Without even looking back, she spoke in plain voice to Bruno. "I'm smelling a variant of cat that can have ginger fur. Hopefully we can uncover that fool soon".
Her eyes drawn forth, unblinking, she kept her gaze set like stone. "Hmm. If this is the place, then prepare for the possiblility a fight. I perfer to the death. Did these guys have any weapons on them, do you know?" The only weapon she feared was a morning star; she never feared even a gun. She made note of a barely-filled garbage can and carried on, awaiting a reply.

"If they had any weapons they didn't draw them in front of me." Bruno replied as he followed. "I wouldn't think they'd have anything too dangerous. In any case, I'm up for a fight. I carry a hefty knife around with me in case I get caught up in trouble."
Meanwhile, Kit had found her friends, who were none other than the cast that Bruno and Katzi were hunting down. They seemed keen on the idea of going to the show, mainly because they could sell fake tickets and maybe con a few more marks out of gil during the show.

Ar'Nald was looking at his watch. "Guess she ain't gonna show." he said, heaving a dramatic sigh. Elesa tried hard not to smirk.
"Sorry, big brother. Guess you scared her off." she smiled. Ar'Nald frowned for a bit, then shrugged.
"Come on, let's get to the venue and meet up with the others," he said, cricking his shoulders.

Katzi shrugs. "Understood", she said. She appeared to trace some sort of symbol in the air. One could have thought her nail glowed lavender.... no, maybe a trick of the light? Maybe Bruno could've been up too late. But for it to be a total illusion wasn't likely, for Katzi herself saw this glow. It was her magic at work.
"We're almost upon them", she mumbled. "Which of us shall lead?" - Meanwhile, at the Inn where Mack and Cal rested, Mack sat at the downstairs lobby, his head resting on his hands. He sighed. He was deep in thought.
Cal arrived to break that. "C'mon, Mack", he said indifferent, "We're going to miss the show if you keep this up".
Mack shrugged. "...yeah, true", he replied, not wishing to make waves with questions like, 'and you care?' or 'good for you'. He got up. "Let's get going, sir".

"I'll lead the way if you don't mind..." Bruno answered, cracking his knuckles. "I want to deal with these little thieves first."
Meanwhile, back at the Drinking Pit, Kit came rushing back into the bar just in time to catch Ar'Nald leaving.
"Oh!" She called, catching her breath. "Can I still get that ticket? Huff...and how much are they? I just wanna know for my friend's beenfit."

Ar'Nald blinked at Kit. "Heh....and here I was thinking you weren't coming back..." his cheeks turned slightly pink. "As for your friends, how about if you all come with us, I can get them in free too!" he grinned.
Elesa was mildly surprised that Kit had actually come back.

Cal and Mack had just arrived at the Drinking Pit, Mack having recalled he had never actually purchased a ticket. He arrived first, having strolled gently. "Uh, hey", he said. "...I'm sorry about earlier. How much are a pair of tix again?"
Cal soon burst through the double doors, out of breath. "You... cur..." he wheezed at Mack. "How on Gaia did you leave me back there?!" Mack shrugged.
"It was easy", he said, not so much as turning toward Cal, "when you suck physically."
-
"Ah", said Katzi. "I understand. Just..." Katzi wanted to say something, but she digressed. "...forget it. Let's get this over with", she said. She finished drawing her rune in the air, then removed the bracer on her left arm. There was an archaic-looking rune dyed in purple on her soft white paw. It was a crescent moon with a knife going through the inside. Lavender energy flowed from this magic dye like flame.
She took one glance at Bruno, dashed away, then returned with the garbage can's lid gripped in her right hand like a shield. She drew with her left, magical dye blazing, a long, single edged knife. It was thin, almost like a ruler with a chisel tip. "Alright", she said. "No more foreplay for now. If it's fate's wishes to have us end these thieves, so be it. Let us go!"

"Alright!" Bruno barked, before barging through the door into the cat's den.
Sure enough, the two con-artists were inside, who were happily chatting to each other before they turned to the door and widened their eyes in fear at the sight of Bruno. They immediately sprang up from where they were sat, overturned the table they were talking over to block the way for Bruno and Katzi and ran into the back of their den.
Bruno immediately pursued them, not wanting to lose them a second time. "Come back here you scoundrels! Give back the money you stole!" He shouted after them as he ran.
Kit pulled a sad smile at Ar'Nald's suggestion.
"I'm afraid there a little busy and quite shy." She answered. "I'm sure they'd feel uncomfortable with you guys. Just let me get their tickets for them and I'll take them to the show myself."

"End of the line, brigands!" Katzi traced a strange rune in the air. When finished, she shouts, "Blastar Punch!" From the rooftop flies down at the two's room a crecent-shaped blue-white energy blast. To ensure that she had hit something, she dashed forward, wary of a collapse if the Blastar Punch spell hit anything in the den. - Meanwhile, Mack tapped his foot impatiently. "Helloooooooooo?" he said to Ar'Nald. "Hey. We also need some tickets. When you're done with her, I mean".

Elesa noticed Mack. "Oh hello again! Tickets are 150 Gil. Is that alright?" she said brightly.
Ar'Nald nodded at Kit. "Sure, here you go!" he said, taking out a couple of tickets to hand over to her.

Mack nods. "Sounds good, Elesa", he said calmly. Drawing from his jean-shorts 300 gil, he hands the coins over to the Red Mage. "Here you are. And good luck with the show!" He grinned. Behind him, Cal rolled his eyes. But Mack didn't care; he was glad to be in Elesa's company again.

"Oh yes, that's fine." Kit answered as she handed over the money. "I'll see you guys at the show then shall I?"
The Blaster Punch surged forward, knocking away bits of furniture and hitting the cats, as well as an unsuspecting Bruno who was charging towards them. The three of them landed in a heap at the end of room.
"Ugh...what was that for!?" Bruno barked angrily at her. "Watch what you're doing next time eh?""

Elesa turned to Ar'Nald. "Well, come on, bro, it starts in a few minutes! If anyone's coming, just follow us!" and she started her way out of the door and down the street, Ar'Nald following her.

Katzi's cheeks turned rosy for just long enough that she squeaked, "My... my apologizes, Bruno". Nevertheless, she walked past him, making a quick look over his body. She drew from her skirt a pouch like a waterskin. "Potion is inside", she said, giving it to Bruno.
Keeping up her pace, she stepped down on top of the two thieves, one foot on each thief's back. "My blunder aside, I can see you both were hurt, too". She flipped her knife so that its blade was downward. Perfect for throat slitting. "Now then. We shall take back his Gil now. Unless either of you fools wish to object?" - As the brother and sister Red Mages zipped on by, so did Mack hot on the trail of Elesa... after slipping Cal his ticket. Not even using his eyes, he used, like in a cartoon, his rat sense of smell to track her instead, and ran with a nice smile on his face. Cal groaned, then ran as fast as his wimpy mage legs could carry, increduluos he was left behind... again.

"Thanks." Bruno said half-heartedly as he took the potion and drunk the contents.
The two cats gave a slight yowl as Katzi stepped onto their backs, Ginger looked very fearful as he noticed the blade pointed at them. As Katzi stated they were retrieving the money, Darkmane gave a hiss.
"Like hell..." He growled before pulling a small pouch from one of his pockets, he hurled it up towards Katzi, and a shroud of black smoke expelled from the pouch.
As the smoke bomb went off, both Darkmane and Ginger started rolling under Katzi's feet, desperately trying to knock the woman off-balance.

Katzi rocked back and forth, coughing as the two cats trembled under her toes like she was caught in an earthquake. "Thought so", she hacked. She didn't want to hurt Bruno again, but knew she didn't want to fail him either. As her body tipped, her toes' claws dug into Ginger and Darkmane's backs. She fell backward, but not before she began to draw a new rune. Her fingers' claws glowing in the smoke, she coughed out, "Shellbust Stab!" The ground glowed beneath her. If Darkmane and Ginger did not move away fast, a large tidal wave-shaped blade of energy would pop out of the ground and slash into them, then fly back into the ground. (OOC: I am using Meliadoul's techniques from Final Fantasy Tactics, considering a Rune Knight in the FFRPG uses those abilities. I've been looking at YouTube videos of the fights against Meliadoul, and have used GameFAQs for cross-translations between the old techs' names [i.e. Shellbust Stab] and the new ones in the recently created remake, Final Fantasy Tactics: War Of The Lions [i.e. Crush Armor]. The most recent video I viewed was this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pExephH4rVs. Roughly 2:10-2:21 minutes in, Meliadoul uses Shellbust Stab to wreck a White Mage's robe and cause substantial damage [somehow not killing him].)

Bruno coughed and cursed as the smoke started to cover the room and got into his eyes and mouth.
As soon as Katzi fell off the two cats, they quickly scrambled away and onto their feet, before beginning to flee further into the back of the den.
