Garrus watched the figure known as Nin leave. he felt slightly hurt about having his offer of friendship spurrned. It seemed that this Nin had nothing but contempt for people and for him. He retracted his hand and rubbed it on his shirt.
Well my friend. I hope we can form a better working relationship on the road. I can only guess what it was you were about to say. Don't worry about me my friend but at least someone has my back. And not to worry, I'm not about to reveal what you do. I only hope you overcome that contempt of me.
Garrus thought to himself. He didn't think these thoughts with any malice or hate but with a kind of wounded and saddened perception on the figure. Shaking himself from his own thoughts he turned to the Elf and Wolfess, wandering over to introduce himself. He cast a look over his shoulder as Wolfgang left.
Why do I feel like he and I are kindred spirits?
Leaving the question he approached the others.
"Well, I guess an introduction is in order. You already know me, but I don't think I have had the pleasure."
Garrus said.

Amber lifted an eyebrow at Freyr's sarcasm. "Oh... right, whatever", she mumbled. "Anyway. I..." Her eyes moved over to Garrus. "...I am Abigail Byrth. You may call me Amber."

Nin took a seat at the bar. He slammed down the pouch containing his last six silver.
"Here's the last I got. Keep the drinks comming until it runs out."
Nin slumped down on the bar. His ears hung low and he held his face up with his hand.
Way I see it, after today I'm eather going to have money or be sleeping in a ditch. might as well enjoy what these silver can get me.

I'm going to assume that Garrus and Freyr have returned to the tavern, and have spent some time socializing with the patrons.
Nin spent the bulk of the morning observing the bottom of a tankard, and as a result, became increasingly cheerful (failed fort save, +2 Cha, -2 int until sober). Garrus and Freyr, on the other hand, spent the morning in slightly more useful pursuits; Garrus managed to befriend a farmer, and learned that most don't graze their animals too far afield these days. It seems that something has been killing lone animals and travellers; they are often found the next morning, their bodies covered with puncture wounds. He also described the saplings as 'ugly things, like a bundle of tangled sticks stuck in the ground'. Freyr, on the other hand, heard a bit more about the last party that went after the goblins. Talgen and Sharwyn, a fighter and wizard respectively, left with their friends Karakas, a ranger, and Sir Bradford, a paladin from the local temple. None of them has been heard from since. They decided to start searching along the Old Road, leading west of town. This road has fallen into disuse, as the town it used to lead to was razed by a frost dragon decades ago.

Garrus bade the farmer farewell. He had accquired some usful information. He was surprised that he was so forth coming and seemed to be friendily. Scanning the tavern to see if he could find Freyr and see what he had found out. He also wanted to gather together Nin and Wolfgang and tell them what he had found out, especially about the saplings but also about the trouble the farmers were having.

Nin was easily found. His was half-passed out at the bar. The empty containers of a variety of alcohols surrounded him head, which rested upon the table.

A pair of strong hands grabbed Nin by the shoulders. The barkeep and a burly patron picked him up, and tossed him into the street. "Damned drunken rat! Couldn't even wait until nightfall!" shouted the barkeep "Why doncha take a long walk over Ash Rift? Maybe the goblins want some rat meat to go with their apples!" the two guffawed heartily, and went back into the tavern. Garrus remembers hearing (bardic knowledge) that Ash Rift is all that remains of the rampage of the frost dragon Ashardalon over a hundred years ago. He attacked the Citadel of the Dragonpriest, leader of a dragon cult, in a fit of rage. The attack caused the ground itself to cave in, and the citadel fell into the rift. Such a place would make a lovely goblin lair

Garrus watched as Nin was tossed unceremonisly into the street. But as the barkeep and patron walked away he heard the name Ash rift mentioned. This peaked Garrus' interest. It would surely make a good hideout for the filthy little buggers. But Garrus knew that even though Nin was a surly old sod, he couldn't help but pity him.
Protect me my friend? You need protecting my friend.
Garrus thought as he recounted the conversation they had earlier that day. Garrus didn't mean any venom in his thoughts, it was on more of sadness and pity.
"Everyone, I have a good idea where we should start looking. Lets leave town now before anything else happens. I'll explain more on the way."
He pushed open the tavern door to see the ninja, dusty, dishevlled and drunk on the ground, but he seemed to be sobering up. He wandered over and offered out his hand.
"Here let me help you."

Amber had waited outside after her rather fruitless search for advice amongst the civilians of the town. Approaching the inn, defeated, she arrived just in time to see Nin be thrown out.
"...are you okay?" she asked sheepishly. "And... any idea on where we go next?"
(OOC: Ugh... really don't know what to write in this RP...)

"Well, I got a lead." Freyr answered, appearing from the bar. "I heard that the last party who went after these golblins went missing on the old road west of town. We should probably start there."

Amber perked up a bit. "I see. Well, thanks, I guess. By the way... what's your name? If I e'er learned it, I forgot it. Heh." She held the handle of her 'bat' in her hand, still attached to the belt.
"So, next question. Anybody have a stategy, a plan of attack? Or, should we just kill the gobbies on sight?"

((I apologize for my lateness, I've kind of been puking my guts out...))
The feline seemed to look at the rest of the party. Noticing the situation at hand, with the knowledge of the strong, he decided to answer the female's question. "I think it would be best if we were..To do this more covert. Think, directly assaulting a stronghold would be silly; it is easier to snoop and sneak around."
Sighing, after looking at the rest of the party, he looked down at the ground, feeling slight disappointment in the lack of a meat-shield.

Garrus had been listening to the party chat amongst themselves. He had gleaned a piece of useful info. The Old Road out of town. Still Nin sat on the floor, a little worse for wear. He stood up and turned to the team.
"Well, knowing where the goblins are would be an advantage. I say we check Ash Rift. It's a citadel that fell underground ages ago. I'll bore you with the details later, but it'll make a perfect goblin hideout. I say we head for there. Better then wandering around aimlessly. And another thing I found out is the local farmers are having troubles. Before you say anything let me finish. It seems theres something that kills the live stock and when the farmers find them in the morning, the bodies are covered with punture wounds. I don't know what it is but we should be extra careful if we sleep in the open. Who knows what nasty is out there."
Garrus turned his attention back to the drunken Ninja. And once again he extended his hand hoping that Nin would notice it this time.

"Right then"Nin said in a sober voice. "We should be going immediatly."
Nin accepted Garrus's hand, and stood up.
"We should scout out the area before we attack. We should see the layout of the area and determine their patrol patterns."
Nin looked around for a moment.
"I shal return momentaraly."
Nin staggered into the bar, to retrieve his glaive.

Nin managed to retrieve his weapon without farther incident, and the party departed the small town of Oakhurst, headed west along the Old Road. For several hours, they continued along, finding the occasional small sign of the goblin's passage. Just as they were contemplating stopping for a rest, they rounded a corner, and found the road running along a ravine. There were stone pillars on either side, most fallen, but some still standing. There were signs of an old goblin camp near the edge.
Nin is beginning to feel the effects of his binge, -2 to all concentration checks

Amber was glad that the goblins were messy folk; because of this, the ability to track them was substantially easy. Along the way, however, she did notice that Nin still remained a bit tipsy, and was worried for his well-being.
The gang all ended up advancing, up until they saw the campsite. "Alright", Amber said. "This obviously may be a trap, but whatever. If y'all want a suggestion, I say I serve as a decoy, and y'all mages can back me up. Nin, I don't want ya blood on mah paws, so either stay back and use some espionage, r' come with, but BE ALERT."
Pulling out her bat and slapping it against her palm, she asked, "So? Anyone up for that?"

This girl is as brash as she looks. Even though I'm surprised that she came up with that plan. Maybe shes not backwards as outer apperances would have me think.
Garrus thopught to himself. He stepped forward, hoping to make some amendments to the plan.
"That is a fine plan my fare lady but what good would it do for you to charge down there? The whole camp would be alerted and you would be swarmed. Also it wouldn't do good with everyone on the road like this. As soon as the goblins see us, they'll flank the rest of the party through the woods. May I suggest that the mages hide in the brush while we send two of the party forth, so then if they are swarmed they would stand more of a chance. The mages could attack the goblins from cover and then the forward guard could finish them off. A confused enemy is more easily played."
Garrus stepped forward and stood next to the druid as he surveyed the camp. He turned his head to look at her.
"Who knows, the whole place maybe deserted. Still, can't be too careful round these creatures. Maybe we could parley with them, it might not work but then again theres no harm in trying is there? Also, I think I shall accompany you. Nin seems to be a little worse for wear. Best keep him safe and out of harms way. Also, I can't let you go alone. A gentleman always watches out for women. Even if they can defend themselves it is the right and noble thing to do." (Diplomacy)
Garrus turned back to survey the camp, his beady eyes looking for any sign of goblins, and he gently sampled the air through his nose to see if he could catch any of aroma of them.

Amber nodded. "Yes, seems like a better idea. And, thanks for choosing to help me out". Tapping her foot, she awaited the others' response.

(Okay, here's the deal; I know Katz and Orn are busy with their own RP forum, so I don't blame them for their lack of posting. However, in the interests of the people wanting to continue on with the story, I'll be hijacking inactive characters. A hijacked character follows the party, and participates in battles, but does little else. (Think Adam Sandler from Click). If you are wanting to get your character back, just post as them, and I'll stop controlling them)
Nin and Wolfgang nod absently, silently agreeing to whatever the group decides to do. Garrus, looking at the camp, sees that it hasn't been used for several days. Walking to the edge of the ravine, he sees that it is far deeper than he initially thought. A knotted rope, tied solidly to one of the pillars, leads down into the darkness.
