I've really just created this topic to show off my latest picture, one I have spent far too long working over. There's a few things wrong with it, but I think it isn't bad for a first try. It's Serylis, RAWR!I only noticed the shoulder pads were mis-alligned after I inked it... Oh well, it's good enough I suppose. I really need to find a good way of colouring my art. Also, how the heck do you change the hyperlink so it looks like a piece of text instead of a URL? Edit: Fix'd.

Aye, not bad Robbo, not bad. =P The overall design of her outfit is good; I like it enough that when I finally get around to drawing her myself, I'll probably at least use some elements of yours. Though too small, the hands are decent, and I really like the way you gave her claws. I also think you did a spot-on job with her head; that is, the way her horns & hair are. The pose is pretty good too, a properly aggressive stance. Now for the weak points. Her axe is very flat, though I can't fault you for making it look like a woodsman's axe since I never really described it. =P Her feet look kinda like bear paws; I've always imagined them as being fully digitigrade and much like a nezumi's, but (obviously) larger and more powerful, with talons. Again, though, that's something I don't think I ever came out and described. Her joints don't seem too well-defined, but they're not too bad, either. And, of course, the bane of everyone who draws anthropomorphic characters: the muzzle. I've found it usually works best to not put a line where it overlaps the face; for some reason, it just doesn't look quite right otherwise. Of all things, the muzzle is the single most likely thing to drive you insane. =P And last of all, her wings: they look kinda funny, like their tips are tied together behind her back. She has pretty conventional-looking dragon wings, but too small for flight (so you have their size correct). All told, you're right: it IS a good first try, and a good way to kick off this thread. I know! I'll put links to my own RoER2-related drawings here, too! (and Jed's, too, since he's not on this board and I don't know if he's coming). To make it a link, you use the "url" tag in brackets, just like in RoER2.
First, my own drawings: Valedec, my new rune mage character, and his sig. I only drew his head because I just needed an avatar. Someday I'll draw the rest of him. Vix Arkelith, my ex-villainess character. I did this doodle when I was mad at my ISP, can you tell? XD She's no longer the sole villain, or even a villain in the traditional sense; but she's still a ruthless lady whose bad side you probably don't want to be on. =P Kael & Tracey, my former RoER2 character and Meep's former RoER2 character, respectively. This picture is a few years after the RoER2 RP, and about the same time as the RoER1 "Drifts of Fate" RP. I had fun making it, and I think it's probably my best drawing to date. Dame Fiona, a short-term vampiress NPC. I didn't really feel like finishing the scene, for some reason. Here's a better cropped version of that picture. An old Kael avatar and sig set I used to use on RoER2.
I'm still waiting on Jed's permission to link to his; I'll edit this post when I get it. I also think this might be a good place to show pictures we find elsewhere that remind us of our favorite RoER2 characters . . . I've got loads of those at home! ^^ I'll have to upload and link to them later tonight.

Well, if it's a general gallery for ROER2 characters, I guess I'll throw in some of my stuff too :3 --- He's my take on Serylis , which I've done last year - I should work on a newer drawing soon, when I have time. This here is Vix Arkelith making a guest appearance in Second Life =P Here's a headshot of my character Declan, and a profile shot of him can be found here.

As promised, here's some of Jed's art. I'll start with some of the older stuff, working my way up to the newest. The original Priscilla pic, the head of which Jedzalor used for his first Pris avatar. This was the first time I'd seen a pair of nezumi boots. =P The original Marco pic, the head of which I totally stole for Marco's first avatar. The outfit's almost exactly as I envisioned it; but he's about to undergo a few wardrobe changes. A younger Tracey; her usual outfit is a white gown under an oversized White Mage robe, but here it looks like she's dressed for a Texas summer! XD An excellent multi-view pic set of Kael. I love the poses and expressions here; I imagine Kael being a bit beefier, but I liked these well enough to use three of them to make my most recent and final Kael avatar/sig set, which you can still see on RoER2. =P Multi-view Priscilla pic! I really like the variety of expressions and poses here, especially the ones in the top-right and bottom-left. The way the ears convey expression is neat, too . . . and I envy your ability to draw the nezumi head from multiple angles, Jed! I shall steal it! Multi-view of Vix, everyone's favorite dark knight. =P Jed got her pretty near dead-on with these sketches, and I used two of them in her present avatar/sig set. Colored Vix - she looks a little scrawny, but if you cut out a bust portrait of her to use as an avatar, you can't tell. I love her expression in this one, and her shirt, so I used a cropped and edited version of this pic in her present avatar. Priscilla being utterly adorable. She lost her boots and gained a hole in her pants knee, but this is still easily one of my favorite pics of any nezumi. What's to be Marco's new outfit. Plus him without his hat, and a better view of his rapier. That expression is totally Marco. =P Hmmm . . . should we also put pics here that remind us of RoER2 characters that we find elsewhere? I've got a goodly few I found scrounging around on DeviantArt, for example.

Wow, I haven't seen a lot of them. Those are amazing. I hope he starts drawing some of the other ROER2 characters...
Yeah, I let you post some DA links in this thread. I wonder what the artist who inspired Edsel will think when she finds you've based a character's appearance off her art?
Now I said I wanted to discuss the points you made about my Serylis picture and it's about time I did so. Here goes:
Her feet look like that because that's how I like to draw nezumi feet. If you look at my earlier pieces you'll see that trend. How much larger are her feet? They can't be THAT big surely?
The line on the muzzle is another trend, and one I think just about everyone on ROER has for the muzzle. I've not seen one picture where there isn't a line showing the muzzle's connection to the face, except for when looking at them directly from the front.
Finally, the wings, I tried drawing as if they were folded in. I imagine if Serylis ever wanted to use them for whatever purpose, they'd fold out and reach full stretch. I doubt Serylis has her wings out full stretch, flapping about all the time.
You REALLY need to revise the description of Serylis in her bio. It wasn't all that helpful when I tried using it to draw this picture.

Not so much bigger as longer, really. But if that's how you draw digitigrade feet, 'kay. Just letting you know what I see in my head when I think of Serylis.
I don't, and I don't draw them directly from the front. Here's a tip: that line, if present, should connect to the eyebrow ridge either by shading or by another line; much like a human nose does.
I wasn't saying she'd have them out full stretch, but the tips of her wings would be slightly angled out even with her wings folded, rather than meeting in the middle. A bit like this, but about 2/3 the size.
Y'know, you could've just asked me. =P That said, I plan to revise her description.

Those wings in that pic look full stretch to me, they don't look folded at all...@_@
And I wanted to keep my Serylis pic a surprise. I never reveal my projects until they're finished.

I think the bangs look good; the horns don't look very pointy, though. =P But all in all, nice work, Dec! She looks good, and is wearing a considerably more laid-back expression than I'd imagine most people see her with. XD (and the expression is, in this case, what really wins it ^^)
EDIT: Whether or not I put pencil to paper, I've got some pics that strongly remind me of RoER2 characters. I intend to post those at the earliest available opportunity.

Drake wears a uniform!? He looks really neat in it, but please don't tell he wears that all the time in ROER2...Just think of how messy it would get in battle and when he's fixing parts of his airship! Is that your first attempt to draw a Burmecian? If so it would explain why his ears are in the wrong place. You might want to get yourself some of the official Burmy art from one of the non-dead Freya shrines. Forgotten fighter has a great set you can print out and use. It really helps to have some reference art when drawing Burmecians. His facial expression looks really good though, and it is a still a great picture, ears included. You did a really good job on his uniform and I liked the airship in the background. Nice work there!

Its my first time drawing ANYTHING roughly humanoid, my stuff is normally objects, ships, weapons and the like.
But yeah, if you want you can go back and look at some of my posts, he basically takes the jacket (Which is lined with chainmail) off whenever he's not in combat or out and about. And yeah, its in the description, just take another look.

That is awesome! Seriously badass! Great work Dec! One minor point I will make is that his ears seem a little weird, they look a little too big and too narrow near his head. Still, they don't really spoil the the awesomeness of this pic. I really need to do some more ROER2 art, and find a way to produce great pieces like that!

Allen, who is that in the second pic?
Although that Freya art is cool and new, it really should be in the Freya art thread and not the ROER2 art thread.

ACK! Darn my not paying attention! I thought this was the ROER3 art gallery. . .
anyway, the character in the second pic is my character from a completely non FFIX roleplay (Alena Foxglove)
