(Ohmigawd, someone made a thread about Freya! Gasp! Awe!)
This is something I've been meaning to ask for a short while now - a little social experiment I've devised to see if I can divide the "true" Freya fans from the shallow side of the flock.
Say if Square Enix decide to re-release Final Fantasy 9. They make no major changes to the game at all - no new graphics, no new storylines, no changes to characterization, nothing. The only change they make is that they've removed Burmecians and replaced them with humans. As a result, Freya has been turned into a human. Bear in mind that no other changes have been made to her - she still retains her abilities and characterization from the original game. The only change she's underwent is her race.
Now, this is the question that I'm asking - If Freya was a human, would you still like her?
Think carefully, answer truthfully, and state your reasoning behind your answers. Go.

I would indeed still like her as a human! For two main reasons.
First of all, she's a Dragon Knight. I'm a huge fan of the class, especially with the added abilities IX gave them. Leaping into the air and falling on one's opponent seems like such a graceful way of fighting!
Second of all, she's a strong person. She's had her home destroyed, her King, Queen, and many friends die. She's had to watch as Cleyra got obliterated despite her best efforts. She's lost her love first to rumors of death, only to find him, then find out he doesn't remember her. Despite all of that, she keeps on going. A lesser person would have wallowed in her sorrow. It's hard not to admire a person like that. I wish I had that kind of strength.
Well, that's about it, my work-burned brain cannot process any more >.>

Hmm, well I guess I would still like her, since I admire her personality for the same reasons as Faruja. Although I am also a fan of the Burmecian race, since I think they look cool and they go through a lot in FFIX. So I'd probably be less obsessed with her if she was human.
Also, if they did remake FF9 with Burmecians with humans, all the rat references and Brahne and Kuja's dislike of Burmecians because of their rat qualities wouldn't make much sense. Oh well.

I'd definately still like her! It wasn't her rat qualities that I thought was awesome, it was her personality and uber-jump that won my heart ^w^ Plus Fratley was hot. And if he became a human too, he'd still be hot xD
But back to Freya, I guess I loved her strength and storyline before I was a fan of the Burmecian species.

Ahh, a good question. To which I would answer. Yes, I would still like her. Would take some getting used to but yes. And my reason? Well, the envelope may change but the contents remain the same. She'd still be the woman that brought us all together. And thats reason enough I think.

To be honest, the answer to that question would've been different if she would've been human all along... obviously.
Still, she _is_ a dragoon (Kain and FF7 Cid are probably two of my favorite FF characters)--or, I'd argue, a sort of weird Dragoon/Red Mage hybrid, which is completely awesome as far as classes go.
If _Square_ did it, it might change some of the themes of the game just a little bit. The whole casual discrimination angle that some people play up wouldn't be quite so strong.
Honestly, I'd be a little disappointed, since it'd be an arbitrary change (although making it for resource or time reasons would probably be the reason they'd give--and it's not a completely bad one either).

I'd still like her. Dragoons kick ass, no questions asked. Plus I love Freya's personality. All-in-all, Freya could be a Qu and I'd still like her.

mmmm...good question, trying not to sound like im jumping on the band wagon, i agree that freya personality wise is still my favourate character, however its her features that make me think of her as being the hottest.
sooo, she would still be my fave but if square enix ever remade ff9 and made freya human i think a little bit of me inside would curl up and die (however not too much would die if they kept her costume the same, she's the most well dressed as well as hottest and kewlest
