www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13256676After months of careful monitoring and covert operations, Osama Bin Laden - one of the most wanted terrorists in the world - has finally been killed. U.S. Troops have confirmed the identity of his body, and was buried at sea 24 hours later, in accordance to Islamic funeral practices. Thanks, homo - now I have to go fix all the post titles >

I heard the news but one don't celebrate just yet. It was one man, the rest of them are still out there. I wouldn't crack open the champers til AFTER the whole thing is over. And yes while it is good news I would like to see some photos or such. I know there will be some who question it and while I welcome the news I wouod just like some confirmation that he really is dead and this isn't spin. Just saying is all.

That's one down, but there's still plenty of extremists with Osama's mentality out there and I won't be surprised if another figurehead takes Osama's place. Besides, we have a far greater terrorist threat in the form of Meepy! He must be destroyed for the sake of our safety and wellbeing!

Personally, I find it funny that people are arguing over who should "get the credit." It's like giving all the credit for a successful sea voyage to the captain; the captain is important, to be sure, and a crappy captain will drive even a good crew wrong. But what about the helmsman? The engineers? The navigators? It takes a crew to sail a ship, and credit goes to the crew for a safe voyage. Obama seems to be well aware of this. Apparently, Bush knows it, too; he congratulated Obama, the intelligence community, and the military. But some of his supporters don't seem to. "Thank you, Bush" signs, indeed. Guaranteed if Bush had been a democrat and Obama a republican, those same people would be saying the opposite thing. BSD, they took pictures and DNA tested him. I can understand why they didn't want to stuff/embalm him and parade him around. First off, that wouldn't have deterred the naysayers. Nothing will, because virtually anything *can* be faked. Videos can be faked, corpses can be faked, pictures can be faked, DNA test results can be faked...for those that want to believe this is a conspiracy, that can't accept the possibility that one of the world's most reviled bogeymen of the past decade could really be dead, there's no convincing. And secondly, it would have a great deal of potential to be a total disaster. Attacks to reclaim his body come to mind. He'd be one of the most heavily guarded corpses in history, due to the symbolism, what he's come to represent. Extremists making pilgrimages to his grave. The question of custody. Who should get it? He's from Saudi Arabia, but was killed in Pakistan by Americans. An Islamic burial at sea sidesteps all of those problems, in addition to taking the moral high ground by showing respect for the religion he called his own (though many of its adherents disown him, with excellent reason imho) in spite of his status as hated foe. Just my two cents, or pence, or euros, what-have-you. =P Edit: Also, I'm sorry Smauggie, but I cannot resist... celebrates. >.> <.<

I love naysayers, they remind me of little kids who keep believing that the clanking boiler in the basement is really a gremlin skulking about.

I'm saying that they are lying but I take things with a pinch of salt as they say. Not saying that it's all faked, it's great news to hear but I always find that if you say something like that it would be nice to have something to back it up. Anyhow, I don't know how the democratic and republic thing works out there so I don't know who did what. And I'm not saying they should've preserved him. last thing we want is that guy being an influence in death as he was in life and I see about the moral high ground as well. I hope this doesn't lead to renewed repisal attacks. And you also gotta beware at home as well cause it might cause nationalism, but thats just what I think. And I this is to the american users on here. I hope this brings you all a sense of peace and closesure. know it won't bring back the dead and everyday is hell. But lets hope that this dark chapter is over for both of us. And that we can move on. We are united in blood and belief. And heres hoping we can continue the good times rolling.
