This site is not a popularity contest. Increasingly, there's this apparent rush to become the number one poster here, and it's really starting to get childish.
I'm talking about "random" RP-style posts in the C.I.T. thread, birthday threads, etc. Now, I'm all for wanting to have fun here - it's the whole point of why we have a forum in the first place. Back in the day, we could simply joke and fool around without having to wreck the place like a house party.
It might sound nasty to say it, but lately there's been an increase of posts that are, to be rather frank, rather stupid-sounding and ultimately deconstructive. Seriously, it's bordering on spam. I'm also in the opinion that if we don't put a stop to this type of behavior soon, these recent threads are going to start becoming more and more stupid, to the point of being nothing more than gobbledygook.
This isn't a bloody contest to see who can get the most posts here - so please, do not make me start doing things like altering post counts or throwing the banhammer around. It's not fair to see the boards degenerate into this level of behavior, whether or not general activity is at stake here.
There's nothing in the rules for this sort of thing. Just... have some common sense already.

I suggest that post counts be disabled, if you think that they're the source of the silly posts. They don't really serve a purpose, anyhow.

Firstly, seeing as it was my birthday thread, I think I have a right to say I didn't mind what was going on in there.
Secondly, you know that if we don't post stuff then this board will die. But if you want that, then I'll either not post for a long time or go.

How can you complain about random posts in the CIT thread? The entire thread is random, and we're just having some fun.
Also, Mel does have a point in that the board would be largely dead if we didn't post. I don't think there's anything wrong with what we post.
I also doubt that removing the post count will change anything.
