Heigh ho everyone guess what? We almost got bombed again. First one was at Haymarket in the heart of Londons theatre district outside the Tiger, Tiger night club. The car was full of petrol, gas cannisters and nails. You in the states might've seen it on CNN or NBC news network. Then there was another at Hyde park. And now guess what? There was another, this time they crashed into Glasgow Airport. Apprently one of the passnegers set himself alight. It also turns out that this is linked to the failed bombing in Haymarket.
To be truthful, it's rather tiring. When will those terroists see that it doens't affect us. It's more annoying then panic inducing. What are your views on this guys? (and gals)

Have they taken your nan in for questioning yet?
Looks like London has become paranoid and beefed up security again. Thankfully security isn't an issue where I live.

Well no because my nan isn't related to him, so they wouldn't question her. They did question him though.

I fail to see how it is that after living for half a century with the threat of MAD hanging over our collective heads any citizen of any nation could actually be afraid of "terrorists" who "could potentialy strike anywhere" with a conventional bomb.

MAD is somthing to do with nuclear weapons right? -not smart- Anyway, i think the fact you could be just going to work or shopping and might be blown to smithereens is cause for being scared =P Not a crippling scared but at least a uneasyness I just thought it was natural for anyone to be scared if their life was potentionally in danger. Though like i said i'm not smart =P I nearly completly freaked out over bird flu so...

I just looked it up, ya know for such a huge threat...i'd not actually heard about til today.
GOOD OLD BRITISH EDUCATION SYSTEM.
But yeah...compared to that i can see how weird it is worrying about one bomb, still reason to be somewhat frightened though i think =P

The reason people are scared is that we know the terrorists aren't scared of being hit back, unlike with MAD, where if an opposing country nukes one, the one being nuked nukes the other, which kept the whole world in balance for half a century. When NATO was faced off against the SSSR/Warsaw Pact all sides understood, they were completely screwed if they launched the big one.
Now we're faced with radical islam, whose anti-western followers are not afraid to die, as they believe when they kill their enemy along with themselves they are granted 40 virgins in heaven. That said, I always thought it was funny how it never said 40 Female virgins, they're going to get up there and meet Butch, Gary, and Bob.

During the cold war we knew that we had enough fire-power pointed at us to kill us, our friends and family, and most of our culture. Like, knew for certain. And the political balance could come crashing down any time, or the exchange started by accident.
The reason people are afraid of terrorists is that they *might* blow something up, but not knowing what or where they're targeting.
It's just weird that people are as afaid of terrorists as they are when the chance that said terrorists will hit any given place is so much lower.
